Environments
So yesterday I was doing some serious figure work and when I went to draw night last night I was pretty burnt out. All I wanted to do was environments, it’s SO relaxing doing this type of thing from time to time.

I didn’t spend too much time on the sketches last night, not sure why. Just kept things pretty loose this time. This first one is random stuff, the one on the right is an Alan Tew sketch trade we did. We both quickly drew some sketchy anatomy lines and then trade and the other person finishes.

I was sketching and erasing for about ten minutes and realized I just had no idea what to draw, and I didn’t have the brain power to come up with anything. So I just started drawing the draw night crew. Most of these I drew at the Sushi place, Alan Tew wanted to draw me so I let him. He was pretty tipsy from the Sake and the bottom right drawing was the result. I look pretty. But yeah there’s Tom Scholes drawing his infamous backgrounds, then Dave Chisholm doing his “let’s go get Sushi” face, then of course Alan Tew with his Sake stare, and Jon Diesta on the bottom left lookin all tuff even though he gets all mushy and philosophical when he gets the alcohol in him. I didn’t get a chance to draw the two other guys at draw night, Jason and Jeff(I think) since they were directly to my left. Maybe next time. It’s definitely good practice to try and draw people every once in a while, I gotta do it more often.

Ifanboy said some nice things about Invincible 52 that just came out last week. They say some nice things about little ol’ me as well, Ifanboy are some good peoples. It’s a video, go watch it HERE!
Here’s the pencils for the cover to 57, I inked it myself but for some reason I like the look of the pencils more than my finished inks. So here ya go.

I started the draw night with figures, just playing with movement and structure a bit, and then good ol’ Tom Scholes shows up. Tom can draw anything if he wants to but he is mainly a background artist at the game company he works at and that’s all he draws at Draw night too. Which is way cool, I never think that kind of thing is too much fun when I’m drawing comics but he inspired me so I thought I’d do some backgrounds. You can see Tom’s background blog HERE. He does collabs also, an artist will draw a figure or something in one of his backgrounds, they are all on the blog, I have a few on there too. Fun stuff!
So here’s the sketches I did, I’d have to say the cowboy standing on the Cactus was the most fun. Let me know what you think, don’t be shy. If you’ve never posted a comment before don’t be afraid if it doesn’t show up after you post. All first time comments need approval to cut down on Spam. I get a lot of spam but I think one of my favorites is “your blog is very important, you are the new media”. That one always makes me laugh. I can’t imagine thinking to myself “Aw man, what a nice compliment, I’m totally approving this!” Someone needs to teach these Spam Ad makers how people really comment, they’d trick a lot more people into approving their comments, thus making products sold, because everyone who reads blog comments are looking for good deals on jewelry and porn. Right? Anyway enough ranting, here’s them sketches.
