Another page from issue 88, pencils to inks! Had fun re-designing Robot here, well not really re-design, just updated for space combat. In the script it said to have Robot subduing Mark, I thought instead of him just flying up and grabbing him that some electric looking power rope thingies that he’d fire at Mark and wrap around him would be cooler. I don’t think they should be called electric power rope thingies though. I’ll leave the cool name creations up to Robert!

INVINCIBLE 88 came out this week! Here’s a process page, I inked my own pencils for this issue. So here’s what my pencils look like before I throw inks on top. I ink with a Kuretake and/or Pentel brush pen. And some Staedtler pens, only sizes I use are 005, .01, and .03.
Background stars are added in Photoshop, no I didn’t stipple out all those stars! That’d be a huge pain and just not help my monthly deadlines!

INVINCIBLE 87 page 1-3

Here’s my pencils to the 1st 3 pages of issue 87. I inked the last 7 pages of this issue so I’ll show a process of pencil to ink soon. For these pages I did a little re-design of Omnipotus, my first design way back in issue 27 looked a little rusty. So I just updated him a bit, he’s a pretty fun dude to draw.

Dinosaurus stuff and website!

My buddy Derek hooked me up with a much sleeker blog, my old one was getting, well…old. You can see the store is up(the 25% off sale is still going on, just put the word OPEN in the coupon area), there’s a link to my art dealer at Splashpageart.
We’re trying to get it so the posts transfer to Tumblr, Twitter, and Facebook with ease. Images keep getting weird on Tumblr though. We’ll figure it out.

Here’s some art from INVINCIBLE 87. Did a Dinosaurus redesign, his old costume was getting, well..old. His new design is pretty basic, just metal pants. I wonder if putting them on is like a woman putting on tight jeans, lots of jumping up and down, laying on the bed to pull them up. I’ll tell Robert to add a scene like that. Also the splash page of Dinosarus and Invincible flying into the scene. The response to this issue was great, so glad to hear from so many that it excited them to the point of bursting out loud at that last page. Love it when that happens!

INVINCIBLE 7 hard cover

Cover for the next hard cover, this has a release date of February 15th! Here’s a process scan of how I do things. Layout on Cintiq in that first pic. Then I print it out in blueline, and do finished pencils and inks on bristol board. I always have a hard time with these covers, they are always packed with everyone from the issues so it’s tough to get any kind of composition. Here I tried to organize things a little bit but with keeping the same idea of all the other covers.

And here’s the final inks.
