Thanks for ordering for the month of October everyone!  The 2 winners of the contest are Adam O. Pruett and Patrick Casao 111, your original art and prints are in the mail!

My book is still available for purchase. People have been asking about prints, I’m looking into an easy way to ship them without getting damaged. Not sure if it’ll work out. We’ll see. If anyone has any good and cheap suggestions for shipping 11×17 prints let me know! I guess I could roll the prints up but I wonder if most people don’t like that.

Here’s a pic and explanation of my current process for drawing comics.

It’s page 12 from Invincible 84 that came out this week. Not much of a spoiler, you’ll be ok to peek.

From layout to pencil, here’s what I do these days. I have a Cintiq, it speeds up the layout process immensely. The first 2 pics are digital, the 1st pic I sketch loosely in Photoshop with a thin pencil, I re-size things and move them around if needed. This is the part that REALLY helps, while drawing by hand sometimes I’ll have to re-draw whole poses because it doesn’t fit in a good composition or it’s just plain weird, so being able to move things around and re-size is amazing. Then the 2nd pic I go over it with a thicker size pencil(in Photoshop), then change it to a very light blue, print it out on 11×17 paper and do finished pencils over that with a 2B mechanical pencil. Then I scan that, send the large file to Cliff Rathburn who prints it out in blue again and inks that on his own paper. So yes, there are two originals for every page, pencils and inks.

I will be there same as every year at my own table at the IMAGE comics island, booth 2729. The Skybound booth will be part of the Image area so if you’ve found that then you are at the right place.

So this year I’ll have the super rad Derek Hunter hanging out with me at my table. Jason Howard and Cliff Rathburn will be close by. Come chat it up with all of us!

I know some of you have been waiting for my sketchbook to come out, well it is here. But I won’t be putting it up online until AFTER Comicon. You want a first shot at the book come to my table at Comicon and get one. I’m bringing a limited supply. It is 72 pages, color, Hard cover with a spot varnish. It turned out pretty damn fancy. Those will be $25 each.

I will have prints, original art, some Invincible books.

I will be doing commissions, come early and get on the list. Basically those that want a sketch need to put their name and pre-pay, I work on it throughout the day or that night and you pick it up. I’ll take a new sketch list every morning when the con opens. So if you missed the chance to get on my list the day earlier, just try the next day. Yes, I fill up quick. So make haste!

See you there!

Here’s a pic I did for fun.

Cherry capital Comic Convention this weekend. http://www.cherrycapitalcon.com/

Hope to see some of you people there, going to be hanging out by some good friends, Jason Howard , Skottie Young , Ryan Stegman, and more. We’ll all be there signing and sketching like crazy.

I’ll finally have my new sketchbook Violence and Pinwheels there for sale at the con. Come snag one, I’m only bringing a certain amount. I will put them for sale on my website soon, I’ll let you all know more about that very SOON! Stay tuned. At the con I’ll also have some gorgeous glossy Invincible prints. These prints turned out amazing, My buddy Derek Hunter really hooks me up with printing these things, they always look so great.

Invincible news, Issue 81 should be coming out in July. I’m working on 82 right now. Cory Walker will be doing issues 85 and 86, I won’t be taking a break though, going to be starting right on issue 87 when his issues are hitting the shelf. We are gonna get caught up if it’s the last thing we do! Thanks to all who read our book and for the great comments. Great to see so many people enjoy Invincible and to see the numbers rise all the time. Your word of mouth has kept us alive and pumping out new issues. Also it’s been great seeing so many fans at so many cons this year, Just got back from the Big Apple con spring edition in New York, fun little con by Wizard. I’ll be doing another Wizard show in October at the Mid-Ohio con. And of course I’ll be hitting San Diego con again this year. See you guys soon!

Here’s a piece I did the other day. Just having fun. I hope I don’t get sued by makers of Flip flops. I hate those damn things. I can never walk comfortably in them. And running in them is impossible!
